GW Fuel Systems based in Lisburn Co. WHY CHECK THE FUEL OIL IN EMERGENCY GENERATORS ANNUALLY?
The technical managers of hospitals, computer centres and other high technology institutions have contacted us to analyse the Gas Oil in tanks for use in their emergency generators. Over time, oil deteriorates in quality through contamination with water (condensation), sediment (rust), bacteria and fungus. Also, the wax resisting additives used in the oil tend to fall out, leaving the oil prone to freezing in cold weather.
In response to their problems, we are offering an annual quality checking service that monitors the diesel oil. This will involve taking a bottom sample from the tank, the analysis and consultancy on its suitability for use.
If potential problems are highlighted we can offer the following range of solutions:
1. Wax formation at low temperature can be treated by adding a flow improver chemical.
2. Bacteria infections can be treated by adding biocide and/or cleaning the tank
3. Water can be drained or pumped from the tank. In the event of power failure, and a dysfunctional generator because of poor quality oil, the consequences of a blackout will be far greater than the low cost of this service.
